Frequently Asked Questions

We've put together some commonly asked questions to give you more information about Caregivers 24/7 and the services we offer. If you have a question that you can't find the answer to, please use the contact us page to reach out to us. We are happy to help.

Is there a commitment to care for a certain length of time?

Our in-home care services can be arranged for a minimum of 4 hours per day up to 24 hours a day. There is no long-term obligation, however.

Is Caregivers 24/7 licensed, bonded, and insured?

Caregivers 24/7 has the appropriate state licensing to operate as an in-home senior care provider in North Carolina. We also carry general liability insurance and are a bonded agency. Each of our employees is covered under our blanket policies.

Is home health and home care the same thing?

No. Home health refers to skilled nursing care that is ordered by a physician, while home health is private duty care focused on helping individuals remain independently in their homes by providing nursing assistants or caregivers to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).

Why wouldn't I hire a private caregiver myself? It appears to be less expensive.

If you hire a caregiver on your own, you are taking on responsibilities that you may not have intended. There are state, federal, and individual liabilities that come into play. As your employee, you must deduct federal, state, Medicare, unemployment, and worker's compensation from their pay. There is also liability associated with possible injury. Does your private caregiver have insurance, and are they bonded?  When you hire your own caregiver, you need to be sure that they are free of TB, have had a national criminal background check, and have CPR training. These responsibilities are related to the legal aspects of hiring someone, but then there's another area of responsibility around coverage when they call out sick or want time off. Caregivers 24/7 manages all of these employment aspects which enables you to have the safest, most cost-effective, highest quality caregivers in your home.

What is your process for selecting caregivers?

The most important responsibility for our office staff is deciding which caregivers truly are the best of the best. Most of our caregivers are Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and must have at least 2 years experience to be considered for hire. All applicants go through a rigorous screening process including a thorough evaluation of practical and interpersonal skills, competency testing, reference checking, background checking, and more. Our client satisfaction is what matters most to us.

Will I be able to have consistent caregivers for my loved ones care?

Caregivers 24/7 believes that a consistent environment is important for anyone who is temporarily or permanently needing help to remain independent. To the extent possible, we strive for a regular team of caregivers to rotate shifts, ensuring your loved one won't be disappointed by unexpected changes. If a client expresses a preference for a specific caregiver, we will attempt to schedule that person as frequently as possible.
